values in everything we do.NATURE AND SCOPE:The Publishing
Production Specialist works collaboratively with editors, database
specialists, graphic illustrators and project managers to produce
educational assessment materials for both computer and print-based
delivery.PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
- Build and publish test packages using a web-based authoring
tool.
- Build test forms, answer documents and manuals using
professional desktop publishing software.
- Format and edit test content in database system or publishing
software to ensure styles adhere to contract specifications.
- Position test and art elements from a variety of databases in
order to design print and/or web pages, using knowledge of type
styles and size, layout patterns and HTML.
- Troubleshoot technology issues and have adequate knowledge of
all database and computer-based testing systems to be able to
resolve issues.
- Author and troubleshoot HTML and XML code to ensure valid
output.
- Document procedures and provide training and support to regular
and temporary staff.
- Maintain constant quality control on all tasks.
- Communicate with groups outside the division regarding
technology tools and troubleshooting.
- Work with PDFs including performing revisions, pre-flighting,
and preparation for publication.
- Prepare ADA-compatible PDF documents for delivery to clients.
Involves using accessibility checkers, troubleshooting issues,
writing alt text, and working closely with editors and report
managers.
- Prepare files for and work with print vendors to ensure things
are delivered appropriately and timely.
- Work with Microsoft Excel and our proprietary online delivery
tool to upload surveys and other materials to members of the Cognia
community.
- Design documents in Adobe InDesign for Cognia's Global
Services, Cognia Assessment, and Learning Community
departments.
- Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time
to time, include related or unrelated tasks.JOB
REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or
Technical school required
- Three to five years of related experience requiredCompetencies:
- HTML expertise
- Graphic design expertise
- Good communication skills
- Good teamworkAnticipated Travel (may include local, national,
and/or international travel):
